Graphic Organizer


(1) why you chose the text-dependent questions/ graphic organizer or note-taking tool,

I chose the graphic organizer tool because it is something that we have implemented in our Chemistry classes at Freedom High School. Every quarter, research students are required to complete a research like project and we use a graphic organizer as seen above as a way to start the project. We call the initial portion their background research because they do the research to answer questions on the unit and project. 

(2) how it is useful to learning and understanding the particular content you selected, and

The students will follow the questions and will have to be engaged on their own to answer the questions. Answering the questions alone will not be enough to make them proficient in the content but it is a good start in getting them involved. 
(3) and how you envision using it in your classroom.

As stated, we use this in Chemistry but it is something I would love to create and implement in my Biology classroom. It is helpful and efficient and a good way to get students engaged in their own work. The idea started here and the follow through will come during the summer.
